High-Rate Batteries Made for Uninterruptible Power Systems

Batteries are the weakest link to an Uninterruptible Power System (UPS). That’s why we stock and ship batteries with low lead times due to our large warehousing.
Over the past 2 to 3 decades high-rate, valve-regulated, lead-acid or (VRLA) batteries have taken large power hits and hold the UPS up without interruption. We have found this topology to be the best overall for lifespan and cost.
Lithium Ion is just starting to be used in not just desktop UPS units but also large facility size UPSs. It’s hard to know yet if we should provide a battery that is current less stable and a little more unpredictable, not to mention the much higher cost they present.
